"Nigerians must patronise locally made products" - Osinbajo

- Acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, says the present administration is committed to ensuring that government and its citizens patronise locally made products - Osinbajo states that preference must be given to indigenous providers of goods and services to strengthen the system - The acting president urges Nigerians to buy and use Nigerian products Acting president, Yemi Osinbajo, has said Nigerians must eat and drink Nigerian products at state banquet.
Osinbajo said the present administration was committed to ensuring that government and its citizens patronise locally made products. The acting president made the statement an interactive session he had with top government officials on the ease of doing business at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Thursday, May 18, The Punch reports. He said the government would work out incentives for performance by building reward system that punishes malfeasance and that preference must be given to indigenous providers of goods and services to strengthen the system. Yemi Osinbajo said Nigerians must buy and use Nigerian products. Osinbajo said: "I agree that a system of rewarding performance, and punishing malfeasance is key. We must work out incentive schemes even as we tighten up sanctions regimes. “We hit 70 percent quickly on the 60 days of ease or doing business target because of the cooperation of all the agencies like ministry of interior, immigrations, customs etc and that is why the remaining 30percent we will also achieve and deliver. I will hold myself accountable to it and I will also hold you accountable. “Usually, we blame the system. But the system is men and women not machines. So we can and must reform it. These proposed executive orders present a unique opportunity to perform. Ladies and gentlemen let us perform.
“The President has laid out a cornerstone policy of this administration. We must grow what we eat and make what we use. The President again enunciated this principle in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan…Buy Nigerian, Use Nigerian. “So we must now insist that at state banquets we eat and drink Nigerian.”  Specifically, Mr. Osinbajo signed three executive orders giving specific instructions on a number of policy issues affecting: "The promotion of transparency and efficiency in the business environment designed to facilitate the ease of doing business in the country. "Timely submission of annual budgetary estimates by all statutory and non-statutory agencies, including companies owned by the Federal Government and" "Support for local contents in public procurement by the Federal Government."

Former Adamawa Governor, Ngilari Jailed For Corruption Granted Bail After Falling Ill

The incarcerated former Governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari, sentenced to five years imprisonment, has been granted bail by the state high court on medical grounds.
But reactions have trailed the bail granted the former governor sentenced after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission prosecuted him.
The bail granted Ngilari by the same court, which convicted and sentenced him, has, however, been opposed by the Adamawa State Government.
Justice Nathan Musa who sentenced the former governor to five years imprisonment in any jail of his choice, on Monday, in Yola, granted bail to Ngilari in order to allow him attend to his deteriorating health.
Reacting to the bail, the Adamawa State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Bala Sanga, questioned the bail granted by the judge.
Ngillari, through his counsel, Obed Wadzani, brought an application for a bail along with an affidavit on his medical condition deposed to by his wife, Mrs Hanatu Ngllari.
The judge, while granting the application, said Ngillairi’s bail application had merit, adding that it was constitutional to grant him bail.
The court ruled that he must provided two sureties, who must deposit certificates of occupancy of landed properties worth N50m each to the court.
The court also ruled that the former governor must inform the court of his whereabouts to enable the court to reach him anytime his presence was needed.

What to do when you cannot sleep!

Do you struggle to get to sleep no matter how tired you are? Or do you wake up in the middle of the night and lie awake for hours, anxiously watching the clock? That condition is called Insomnia!
Insomnia is the inability to fall asleep or stay asleep at night, resulting in unrefreshing or non-restorative sleep. Anyone who’s laid awake at night knows how frustrating and upsetting it can be to spend hours in bed willing sleep to come—and knowing just how bad you’re going to feel in the morning if it doesn’t.
Insomnia can adversely impact all aspects of your health and well-being, leaving you feeling fatigued, drowsy, and low on energy during the day, affecting your mood and concentration levels, and damaging your productivity at work or school. Insomnia can also pressure you into relying on sleeping pills, sleep aids, or alcohol to help you sleep—which in the long-run only makes your sleep problems worse. Chronic insomnia can even take a serious toll on your physical and mental health, increasing your risk of health problems such as stroke, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, heart disease, Alzheimer's disease, and certain cancers.
No matter how long you’ve been suffering from insomnia or how frequently you struggle to sleep, don’t despair. While it can take time to correct the habits that contribute to your sleep problems, there are plenty of things you can do to help overcome insomniaand enjoy a full and restful night’s sleep.
Insomnia could be a temporary problem stemming from changes in your normal routine due to illness, travel, grief, hormone fluctuations, or stress. Most of us experience this type of insomnia at some point in our lives and while it usually resolves itself when your routine returns to normal, addressing the problem early can ensure your insomnia doesn’t persist.
However, long-term or chronic insomnia could occur when you regularly experience trouble sleeping (three or more nights a week) over an extended period of time (three months or more). Since chronic insomnia has been ingrained over months, changing the unhealthy habits or thought patterns that fuel your insomnia can sometimes take time, perseverance, and a willingness to experiment with different solutions.
While there could be several reasons for Insomnia (psychological and medical), the most common causes of sleep onset insomnia is anxiety or chronic worry. You get into bed at night but can’t fall asleep because your mind is racing with anxious thoughts about what you didn’t get done today, about what tomorrow might hold, or simply feeling overwhelmed by daily responsibilities.
You’ve got to take things easy. Settle this in your mind today….there have been issues, problems, tasks and responsibilities…..long before we got to this world ….and this will continue long after we have gone!
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Get help with stress management. If the stress of managing work, family, or school is keeping you awake at night, learning how to handle stress in a productive way and to maintain a calm, positive outlook can help you sleep better at night.
Talk over your worries with a friend or loved one during the day. Talking face to face with someone who cares about you is one of the best ways to relieve stress and put an end to bedtime worrying. The person you talk to doesn’t need to be able to fix your problems, but just needs to be an attentive, non-judgmental listener.
Get enough exercise. Regular exercise not only relieves stress but improves the symptoms of insomnia, increases the amount of time you spend in the deep, restorative stages of sleep, and helps you to feel less sleepy during the day. To maximize sleep benefits, try to exercise vigorously for 30 minutes on most days—but not too close to bedtime.
Watch what you eat and drink. Caffeine can cause sleep problems 10 to 12 hours after drinking it, and your diet can also play a role in how well you sleep. Some people find that cutting back on sugary food and drinks and refined carbohydrates during the day makes it easier to sleep at night.
Don’t try to force yourself to sleep. Tossing and turning only increase the anxiety. Get up, leave the bedroom, and do something relaxing, such as reading, drinking a cup of herbal tea, or taking a bath. When you’re sleepy, go back to bed.
OBESITY AND INSOMNIA
It has been established that the less sleep we have, the higher the tendency to become overweight. This is just so logical because when we stay up late due to the inability to sleep well, snacking is inevitable in a lot of cases and hence the unnecessary accumulation of weight most especially around the belly.
Looking for a perfect remedy for Insomnia especially one that calms your body, nerves and also relaxes your brain thereby helping you sleep better?
Think no further.

Buhari to resubmit Magu's name to Senate

- Ibrahim Magu was rejected by the Senate as chairman of the EFCC

- There are indication that his name will be resubmitted

- President Buhari's adviser have insisted that Magu remain as EFCC chairman

There are reports that President Muhammadu Buhari will re-nominate Ibrahim Magu as chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the third time.

Magu who has served as the acting chairman of the anti-graft agency was screened by the Senate on Wednesday, March 15 but was rejected on the basis of an indicting report from the Department of State Services.

President Buhari may resubmit Magu's name to Senate as EFCC chairman

Femi Adesina who is the special adviser to President Buhari on media and publicity had said that the president would respond to the rejection after the Senate duly writes him.

Today reports that the Senate conveyed in a letter to Buhari on Friday, March 17 informing him of Magu’s rejection but that the president is planning to resubmit his name.

Sources said the president was ready to stand by Magu based on the suggestion of his advisers who indicated that doing otherwise would be tantamount to backing down in his anti-corruption fight.

This is also at a time Magu seems to have received backing from the international community as he was invited by Transparency International and Global Witness as he was invited to speak at an international conference on money laundering and recovery.

It was reported that the president had also stepped into the perceived row between the DSS and the EFCC considering it was the former that wrote the report that indicted Magu.

A source said: “The Presidency has stepped into the matter.

“But contrary to reports on Friday, there was no meeting or talk of any kind on the confirmation of Magu in the Presidential Villa.”
